I’ve spent time with quite a few wireless earbuds in this price range, so I was curious to see where Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Pro would land. They take a different approach, with support for Hi-Res Audio Wireless alongside a focus on everyday listening. After spending time with them across daily listening sessions, their overall character became easier to understand.
Package Contents

Inside the box you’ll find the earbuds in their case, a USB-C charging cable, a couple of extra ear tip sizes, and the standard paperwork set aside at the bottom. Everything you need to get started is included.
Fit & Comfort
Once Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Pro were in, they stayed put and never became something I had to adjust or think about. The stem design helps keep them stable, and the earbuds feel light enough for longer listening sessions. Fit may vary with ear shape, but with the correct ear tips, they seal properly and remain comfortable over time.

With their light weight, in-ear design, and multiple transparency modes, I had no issues wearing them for longer listening sessions. Switching to transparency made quick conversations easy without taking the earbuds out.

Design
As of writing, Buds 5 Pro come in black and white, with the black version using a vegan leather texture on the case that feels slightly softer and less plasticky in hand. The case itself is compact and easy to live with, square in shape with rounded edges, finished in black, and opening from the front without any unnecessary design flourishes.
Opening the case reveals a small slogan inside, easy to miss and not something that keeps pulling your attention back.
Noise Canceling
Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Pro use active noise cancellation up to 52 dB. Low-frequency environmental noise is reduced heavily, while higher frequencies remain audible but softened. Everything else feels quieter aside from nearby voices. The noise canceling behavior stays consistent and doesn’t draw attention to itself during everyday use.
Soundstage
What stood out to me was how open Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Pro sounded once I switched to LDAC on my phone. Xiaomi immersive sound tuning gives the presentation a wider feel, with good imaging and a soundstage that stretches well beyond simpler designs often associated with basic Bluetooth codecs.

There’s a lot of space to the sound, with instruments spread out naturally and effects like reverb easy to notice without trying. In comparison to simpler designs, the presentation feels more open and pushed back from the stage, giving a better overview rather than putting everything right up front.
Bass
If you like a strong low end, Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Pro lean that way. The emphasis is clearly on sub-bass, and with tracks that rely on a strong kick drum, the low end has real presence. They get plenty loud, but I found myself enjoying them more at everyday listening levels, where the bass feels fuller and more controlled.
The sub-bass comes through clearly and gives the sound a solid foundation. At the same time, this emphasis can start to dominate the presentation. On certain tracks, the sub-bass becomes overbearing and begins to mask detail in other parts of the mix. For some music styles this works well, especially where weight and depth are part of the sound, while for others it benefits from adjustment through presets or custom EQ.
Midrange
The midrange tuning on Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Pro feels lighter and more spaced out than usual. On certain tracks, the main vocal line sits slightly farther back, which changes how close and intimate the mix comes across. This gives the presentation a more relaxed feel rather than putting everything directly in front of you.
At the same time, separating different vocal layers is easy. Even quieter background parts that often get lost remain audible and well placed. There’s plenty going on in the mids, but everything feels set a step back rather than pushed toward you. With some EQ settings, the upper mids can edge toward sharpness, though it’s simple to calm that down in the app.
Treble
Treble has good extension and plenty of high-frequency detail, especially on tracks that rely on subtle effects and atmosphere. Whisper tracks and small details come through clearly, and there is a sense of air that keeps the sound from feeling closed in. The highs stay smooth during normal listening and don’t immediately draw attention to themselves.
When the volume is pushed higher than usual, the sound can start to feel rough and easier to tire the ears. They get plenty loud, but I kept coming back to more moderate levels where everything felt calmer and easier to listen to. At those levels, the balance between detail and comfort feels more natural.
Summary
Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Pro handle everyday environments well, thanks to active noise cancellation rated up to 52 dB. Low-frequency environmental noise is reduced heavily, while higher frequencies remain audible but softened.

Battery life was never something I had to think about during daily use, and call quality stayed clear even in noisier situations. If you want to sit back and overhear the whole stage in a more relaxed manner, Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5 Pro make sense for everyday listening.
