Editorial Guidelines & Disclosure

Best Tech Radar is committed to honest, independent journalism. This page explains how we work, how we make money, and how we maintain editorial integrity.

Our Editorial Standards

Independence

Our editorial content is independent from advertising and affiliate relationships. No advertiser, manufacturer, or partner influences our reviews, recommendations, or coverage.

What this means in practice:

  • Advertisers cannot pay for positive reviews
  • Receiving a free review unit does not guarantee coverage
  • Affiliate commission rates do not affect recommendations
  • We recommend the best products regardless of business relationships

Accuracy

We strive for accuracy in all content:

  • Facts are verified before publication
  • Product specifications come from official sources
  • Prices are checked at time of publication
  • Claims are based on our testing or clearly attributed sources

Corrections

When we make errors, we correct them:

  • Factual errors are corrected promptly
  • Significant corrections are noted in the article
  • Minor typos and formatting fixes are made without notation
  • Readers can report errors to support@besttechradar.com

Updates

Our content is regularly maintained:

  • “Best of” lists are reviewed quarterly
  • Reviews are updated when significant changes occur (firmware, pricing)
  • Outdated content is marked or removed
  • Update dates are noted on time-sensitive articles

How We Make Money

Best Tech Radar is an independent publication. We fund our operations through:

Affiliate Links

When you click links to retailers (Amazon, manufacturer websites, etc.) and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. This is our primary revenue source.

Important:

  • You pay the same price whether you use our links or not
  • Commission rates never influence our recommendations
  • We recommend products based on testing, not affiliate payouts
  • Affiliate links are present in reviews, buying guides, and deals content

Display Advertising

We may display ads on our website through ad networks (such as Google AdSense). These ads are clearly distinguishable from editorial content.

Sponsored Content (If Applicable)

If we publish sponsored content, it will be:

  • Clearly labeled as “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership”
  • Distinguishable from regular editorial content
  • Subject to our quality standards

As of February 2026, we do not publish sponsored reviews.

Review Policy

How We Get Products

Products we review come from:

  • Purchased: We buy many products ourselves
  • Review units: Manufacturers sometimes provide products for review
  • Loaned units: Some products are returned after review

Regardless of how we obtain a product, our review process and standards remain the same.

Review Unit Policy

When we receive review units:

  • We disclose this in the review (e.g., “Review unit provided by [manufacturer]”)
  • The manufacturer has no editorial input or approval rights
  • Negative reviews are published without interference
  • We may keep, return, or donate units after review

What We Review

We focus on:

  • Budget and mid-range wireless earbuds ($20-$150)
  • Headphones in accessible price ranges
  • Audio technology and accessories
  • Products relevant to our audience

We prioritize products that readers are actually searching for and buying.

What We Don’t Do

  • Accept payment for reviews
  • Guarantee positive coverage for free products
  • Allow manufacturers to preview or approve reviews
  • Remove negative reviews at manufacturer request
  • Publish reviews without hands-on testing

Disclosure Requirements

We disclose potential conflicts of interest:

  • If we have a relationship with a company beyond normal review processes
  • If a team member has a financial interest in a product or company
  • If content is sponsored or paid for in any way

Avoiding Conflicts

Team members:

  • Do not accept gifts beyond reasonable review units
  • Do not hold financial interests in companies we cover
  • Recuse themselves from coverage where conflicts exist
