Monster Persona SE ANC Review

The Monster Persona SE ANC is basically focused on everyday wireless use with active noise cancelling. It’s got active noise cancelling which you can turn on directly on the headphones, although it isn’t perfect. It won’t be able to cut as much noise as the best noise cancelers from Bose and Sony, especially in the higher frequencies, but compared to the ones in this comparison it is quite an effective all-rounder. A bit more about noise canceling later on.

It also has a built-in microphone which is meant for calls and everyday communication. Compared to other models in noisy conditions, the noise gating is deeper so the background is more silent, and voice filtering seems to work better in most situations. This was tested in both quiet and noisy conditions using really loud cafe noise and wind noise from this fan.

The Monster Persona SE ANC also uses Bluetooth 5.4 for wireless connection. Depending on how you connect it, it sounds a little different, which I will discuss when I dive deeper into their sound quality. And I will also be comparing their performance to other over-ear wireless headphones in this category.

Build Quality & Design

The Monster Persona SE ANC uses an over-ear design meant for longer listening sessions. The cushions feel soft on the face, and the earcups sit comfortably around the ears. Its clamping pressure is gentle enough that I don’t need to take breaks as often, although heat does build up more quickly over time.

The headband is adjustable, and the headphones feel light enough for daily use. If you have big ears, you’re going to feel them pressing a bit more against the inside of the earcups, but overall the comfort is aimed at casual and extended listening rather than short sessions.

Controls, Ports & Connectivity

The Monster Persona SE ANC uses physical controls on the headphones. Active noise cancelling can be switched on directly, which makes it easy to move between different environments. Bluetooth connection is stable, and once connected it works reliably for everyday listening.

There is a sound quality difference between connections which I will discuss when I dive deeper into their sound quality.

Active Noise Cancelling

In terms of active noise canceling, the Monster Persona SE ANC is quite an effective all-rounder against everyday noises, voices and low frequency rumble. It won’t be able to cut as much noise as the best noise cancelers from Bose and Sony in the higher frequencies, but compared to many headphones in this category it performs well.

Monster Persona SE ANC

This is similar to what we explained in our What is NC/AMB on Sony Headphones? article, where the focus is also on everyday noise reduction rather than extreme isolation.

Sound Quality

For sound quality over Bluetooth and on its default settings, using its 40mm drivers, if we compare them to other wireless over-ear headphones, the Monster Persona SE ANC sounds laid back and smooth. In terms of dynamic range, tuning and soundstaging, it focuses more on an easy listening experience rather than sounding aggressive or analytical.

The sound is more relaxed and laid back, with more emphasis in the midrange and less boominess in the bass. Soundstaging also feels more centered, so it’s a calmer experience rather than something very wide or enveloping.

Listening Tests & Pairings

Depending on how you use the Monster Persona SE ANC in daily listening, the experience stays fairly consistent. Over Bluetooth, it sounds the most laid back and most relaxed overall. Tracks feel smooth, and the presentation doesn’t push details too aggressively forward.

For everyday music listening, videos and calls, the sound stays predictable and easy to listen to. There isn’t a big shift in character between different content types, which makes it suitable for long sessions without feeling fatiguing.

Daily Use & Practical Experience

For daily use, the Monster Persona SE ANC works well as an all-round headphone. Active noise cancelling helps with everyday noises, and the isolation is enough for work, commuting and home use. Switching ANC on and off is simple, and you don’t need to think too much about settings.

Type-C fast charge makes quick top-ups easy during the day. With noise cancelling turned on, you can go through long workdays without worrying about charging. In standard mode, it lasts even longer, so it’s easy to forget about battery management altogether.

Comparisons

Compared to other wireless over-ear headphones in this category, including the Monster Mission 200, the Monster Persona SE ANC feels more laid back and relaxed. It doesn’t try to sound overly punchy or overly detailed, but instead focuses on a smoother presentation.

Where some other models sound more engaging or more resolving, the Monster Persona SE ANC stays calm and easy going. It’s not the most exciting sound, but it’s consistent and comfortable for long listening sessions.

Who Is This For?

The Monster Persona SE ANC is for people who want a wireless over-ear headphone that’s easy to live with. It works well for work, travel and everyday listening, where comfort, battery life and noise cancelling matter more than critical sound analysis.

If you’re looking for something laid back and smooth rather than highly analytical, this fits that use case well.

Final Verdict

Aside from that, the Monster Persona SE ANC is a solid option for everyday use. It offers good all-round performance, useful noise cancelling, long battery life and a sound signature that’s easy to listen to for long periods of time. It may not be the most exciting headphone in its category, but it does what it’s meant to do without unnecessary complications.
